What is Surveying? 

Surveying is the act of examining and recording the measurements, features, etc. of an area of land in order to make a map or plan of it.

Surveying is the art of determining the relative positions of distinctive features on the surface of the earth or beneath the surface of the earth, by means of measuring distances, directions and elevations.
